How to visit, step by step
- Enter from Bade Road and start with the outdoor grounds. You do not need a ticket, booking or companion for a self-guided walk
- Check the current exhibition listings and each venue's entrance notice before buying a ticket. Prices, timed entry, booking rules, payment and English content vary by organizer
- The English website has basic visitor and shop information, but its event listings may be incomplete. Use the Chinese listings with translation if needed
- For orientation, find the service center on the ground floor of the tower building by the lawn, open daily 09:30-21:00. Regular weekend guided walks are in Mandarin
- Bring an umbrella or sun protection for the outdoor parts. Check weather and holiday notices before visiting, and do not expect galleries or shops to stay open overnight.
- Free drinking-water stations and clean toilets are spread around the grounds. The outdoor areas have no air-conditioning and get hot in summer
Don't miss: Take a short loop through the old industrial buildings and courtyards, then pick one exhibition or design shop that interests you. Buying an exhibition ticket is optional.
Best time to go alone: A weekday late morning or afternoon, between about 11:00 and 21:00 when most shops are open. Weekends bring markets, pop-up shops and concerts, which are fun but very crowded.
