Huaxi Street & Guangzhou Street Night Markets

華西街・廣州街夜市 · show this name to taxi drivers

The old night-market streets beside Longshan Temple. Huaxi Street is a covered arcade, so it works in the rain; Guangzhou Street is open-air and more local. Many stalls are small shops with a few seats, so one person can sit down for a bowl. Pair it with a visit to the temple.

How to order, step by step

  1. Walk the streets and pick a stall or small shop
  2. Order one bowl or one item at the counter - single portions are normal
  3. Sit at the shop's small tables if it has any, or eat as you walk
  4. Pay in cash - only a few stalls take mobile pay
What to order solo: Braised pork rice and minced pork soup at Xiao Wang (小王煮瓜) and a pork belly bun at Yuan Fang Guabao (源芳刈包), both on the 2026 MICHELIN Bib Gourmand list for Taipei; squid thick soup at Liang Xi Hao (兩喜號) on Guangzhou Street, about NT$70 for a small bowl.
Best time to go alone: Early evening, about 17:00-21:00. Many food shops close well before midnight. Skip the pricey seafood restaurants on Huaxi Street.
