Ay-Chung Mee Sua

阿宗麵線 · show this name to taxi drivers

Ximending's most famous street snack: thin rice noodles in a thick bonito broth with braised pork intestine. There is one dish in two sizes and no seats, so everyone orders at the counter and eats standing on the street. That makes it one of the easiest meals to have alone.

How to order, step by step

  1. Join the line at the counter - it moves quickly
  2. Choose a small or large bowl
  3. Pay in cash
  4. Add garlic, vinegar or the house chili sauce at the condiment station
  5. Eat standing outside with everyone else - there are no seats or toilets
What to order solo: A small bowl (about NT$70) is a snack and a large one (about NT$85) is a light meal. Add a little of the house chili sauce. The only topping is pork intestine, so skip it if you do not eat offal.
Best time to go alone: Mid-morning or mid-afternoon on weekdays. Evenings and weekends are busiest, and standing outside is tiring in summer heat.
