A basement library in the lanes north of Zhongxiao Fuxing, with more than 10,000 magazines from around the world on the shelves, many in English and Japanese. You pick a seat and read at your own pace, which makes it a good rainy-day stop on your own.

How to visit, step by step
- Find No. 18 in Alley 5, Lane 107, Fuxing South Road and go down to the basement (B1)
- Non-members pay a day fee at the front desk, and if you join as a member the same day the fee counts toward it
- Change into the slippers provided, keep your voice down and leave outside food and drinks in your bag - photos are not allowed
- Pick magazines from the shelves and read at any free seat, then leave them on your seat for staff to put back
- There is free water, Wi-Fi and power outlets, and you can order drinks from the cafe upstairs
