How to visit, step by step

  1. From Yuanshan station (R13), take the Kulun Street exit and walk about 10 minutes
  2. Walk in freely. No ticket or booking is needed. Incense, offerings and lamp-lighting are optional and paid separately
  3. People come here to pray, so keep your voice low, don't stand right in front of worshippers and skip the flash near the altars
  4. Move slowly from the front hall to the main hall to look at the carvings, roof figures and painted walls
  5. Cross the street to the Taipei Confucius Temple (closed Mondays) for a quieter second stop
Don't miss: The carvings and wall paintings around the main hall, best seen slowly up close.
Best time to go alone: A weekday morning. Festival days and weekends bring more worshippers.
