A cafe in an old three-story house west of Ximending where the menu is a set of illustrated postcards. You pick the card for each dish or drink, keep it, and can write a postcard for the cafe to mail later, even years ahead. Three resident cats wander the house, and the cafe's website explains everything in English.

How to order, step by step
- Walk west along Chengdu Road to No. 165, about 8-10 minutes from Ximen Station Exit 6. There are no reservations, so just walk in
- Pick the postcards for the food and drinks you want from the menu display. Items change by day, so ask staff what's available
- Order and pay at the counter, then keep your postcards
- Find a seat upstairs. The stairs in the old house are steep, so take them slowly
- To send a postcard, write it and hand it in at the counter. You can schedule it for a later date, and the fees and destinations are posted in the cafe
- Let the cats come to you, and check their mood before petting
What to order solo: A drink and a sweet or a toast, plus one postcard to mail to yourself in the future.
Best time to go alone: Weekday morning after the 10:00 opening. Last orders are at 15:30, so don't plan on a late-afternoon visit.
