Four Four South Village

四四南村(信義公民會館) · show this name to taxi drivers

A preserved post-war military dependents' village, its low brick houses sitting right at the foot of Taipei 101. One building is a small free exhibition on village life, and the old rooftops with the tower behind them make one of Taipei's classic photos.

How to visit, step by step

  1. From Taipei 101/World Trade Center MRT (R03) Exit 2, walk along Zhuangjing Road and turn left. It takes about 2 minutes
  2. Wander the lanes between the old houses first. Entry is free and you do not need to book
  3. Go into Building B at No. 52 Songqin Street, the free village exhibition hall, open Tuesday to Sunday 09:00-17:00
  4. The other buildings are a children's play space and community or arts venues with their own hours, so they are not part of a normal visit
  5. English information may be limited, so a translation app helps with the exhibition text
  6. Pair it with Taipei 101 or the Xiangshan trail, both a short walk away
Don't miss: The exhibition on everyday life in the village, then the view of the old rooftops with Taipei 101 rising behind them.
Best time to go alone: A weekday late morning or afternoon, combined with Taipei 101.
