How to visit, step by step
- Go to the main building at No. 2 Xiangyang Road, inside 228 Peace Memorial Park. This is the National Taiwan Museum, not the National Palace Museum
- Buy one regular NT$30 ticket at the entrance before 16:30. You can visit independently without booking a group tour
- Use the museum's bilingual self-guided map to explore the lobby and permanent galleries. English guidance is available, but a live English tour is not guaranteed
- Keep your ticket if you also want to visit the Natural History Branch across the road at No. 25 Xiangyang Road on the same day
- Keep food, drinks and umbrellas packed away in the galleries. An entrance lift and accessible toilets are available
- As checked on 19 October 2026, the third-floor panoramic theater has suspended film screenings for maintenance since 15 October. Check the museum's notices for reopening.
- There is no restaurant or cafe inside, so eat before or after your visit. Taipei Main Station is a short walk away
Don't miss: Look up at the stained-glass dome, then choose the nature and culture displays in Exploring Taiwan. The museum's suggested self-guided route takes about 90 minutes.
Best time to go alone: We suggest arriving near opening on a weekday from Tuesday to Friday, leaving time to read at your own pace.
