Niya Oyster Ramen

二屋牡蠣拉麵 · show this name to taxi drivers

A small ramen counter off Chifeng Street whose creamy chicken broth is cooked down with a lot of oysters. Around a dozen seats, a cash ticket machine and one bowl per person make it simple to eat alone, though queues can be long.

How to order, step by step

  1. Join the queue - no bookings, and staff will not let someone hold a place for friends who have not arrived
  2. Buy a ticket at the machine inside (cash only)
  3. Hand it over and choose noodle firmness if asked
  4. Sit at the counter when called - food comes out in about 10 minutes
  5. Extra noodles are free when you eat in, but ask how many refills are allowed
What to order solo: The signature oyster ramen. The version without oyster topping still has oyster in the broth, so it is not an option if you avoid shellfish.
Best time to go alone: Right at 11:30 or mid-afternoon on a weekday. Weeknight dinner can mean a long wait.
