How to visit, step by step
- Walk from Dongmen MRT Exit 5 (about 10 minutes) to No. 129, Section 1, Heping East Road
- Walk in - individual visitors do not need to book. Group tours need booking ahead
- Leave long umbrellas in the outdoor racks and keep drinks in your bag. No food or drink in the galleries
- Symbiotic Splendor, a show of modern Japanese art and crafts and their links with Taiwan, has been extended to 8 November 2026. Photos and video are not allowed in that exhibition
- Elsewhere, non-commercial photos without flash are fine unless a sign says otherwise. Tripods and gimbals are not allowed
- Exhibitions change through the year, so check the museum's website for what is on
Don't miss: The main exhibition of the moment. Until 8 November 2026 that is Symbiotic Splendor, with more than 200 modern Japanese paintings and crafts.
Best time to go alone: A weekday afternoon, then walk to Shida Night Market for dinner.

MRT: Dongmen (R07/O06), Exit 5, about 10 min on foot. Guting Exit 5 and Taipower Building Exit 3 are about 12 min.
