An open-air morning market that fills the lane beside the linear park right outside Shuanglian Station, with Wenchang Temple, where students pray before exams, about halfway along. How to visit, step by step

  1. Take Exit 2 at Shuanglian Station. The market starts right outside and runs about 300 m north along Lane 45, Minsheng West Road, beside the linear park
  2. Bring cash in small notes and coins. Most stalls do not take cards, EasyCard or QR payments
  3. Many stalls do not post prices, so point at what you want and ask the price before you buy
  4. Buy one item at a time and eat as you go. There are no seats at the stalls
  5. Stop at Wenchang Temple, about halfway along, where students pray for good exam results. Looking around is free
  6. Watch for scooters and bicycles riding through the lane, especially on rainy days when umbrellas block the view
  7. Use the toilet at the MRT station before you start. There are no public toilets along the market
Don't miss: Graze on single portions such as red turtle rice cakes, zongzi, rice sausage and fried oyster balls. For breakfast, Century Soy Milk (世紀豆漿) at No. 16 Wanquan Street, just off the market, serves soy milk, egg crepes and rice rolls from 05:00 to 11:00 and has a Japanese menu. Yan Shan Tangyuan (燕山湯圓) closed in 2026.
Best time to go alone: Around 08:30 on a weekday. 09:00-11:00 is the local rush, and many stalls start packing up after 11:00.
