Jinbaoli Duck (Jinshan Temple Front)

金包里鴨肉(金山廟口) · show this name to taxi drivers

The best-known stop on Jinshan Old Street, in front of Guang'an Temple. Cooked dishes such as stir-fried squid, bamboo shoots and fried noodles sit out on the counter for you to pick up, duck is sliced to order, and staff count your plates to work out the bill. It's busy and mostly groups, but because you choose your own plates, you can keep it to one or two on your own.

How to order, step by step

  1. Get off at the Jinshan District Office stop and walk along Jinbaoli Street to Guang'an Temple at No. 104
  2. Find a seat first. The tables under the arcades with numbered pillars are the dine-in area, so on your own, settle in before you collect food
  3. Pick up ready-cooked plates from the counter. Plates you take can't be returned, so take only what you will eat
  4. Ask for duck at the cutting counter. A quarter duck was about NT$250 in 2026
  5. When you finish, staff count your plates to work out the bill. Pay in cash
  6. Weekends are crowded and you carry plates through the crowd, so a weekday visit is easier
What to order solo: A quarter duck (about NT$250 in 2026) with one plate of fried noodles or greens from the counter is plenty for one. Check the posted price.
Best time to go alone: A weekday late morning or mid-afternoon. Weekends and lunchtime are packed, and it closes at 18:00.
