One of the few places near the start of Jishan Street where you can sit down for a proper meal: braised pork rice, xiaolongbao and mee sua, plus Taiwanese craft beers such as an oolong tea beer. A balcony looks out over the hillside toward the coast, and single dishes make it easy to eat alone.

How to order, step by step
- Walk a short way into Jishan Street from the entrance to No. 8
- At busy times, wait for a table. Balcony seats with the view go first
- Order single dishes such as braised pork rice, xiaolongbao or mee sua, and check the posted prices
- Add a craft beer if you like. The shop sells beers from several Taiwanese craft breweries
- Have cash ready in case cards aren't accepted
What to order solo: A bowl of braised pork rice with a small side, or a basket of xiaolongbao. A Taiwanese craft beer on the balcony turns it into a sunset stop.

Getting there: From Taipei: bus 1062 from Zhongxiao Fuxing Station (Exit 2) or bus 965 from Beimen or Ximen to the Jiufen Old Street stop, about 1-1.5 hours, then a short walk into Jishan Street. Check the timetable before you go back.
