Tamsui–Bali Ferry & Bali Left Bank
淡水-八里渡船(八里左岸) · show this name to taxi drivers
A short public ferry across the Tamsui River to Bali, the quieter bank beneath Guanyin Mountain. You just pay a single fare, so it is simple on your own. On the far side, the pier street has fried squid and twin donuts, and the Left Bank riverside path runs about 3-4 km toward the Shihsanhang Museum.

How to visit, step by step
- Walk from Tamsui Station along the riverside to Tamsui Ferry Pier, about 10 minutes. Make sure you board the boat for Bali, not Fisherman's Wharf
- Pay the one-way fare at the pier (about NT$40 in 2026, with an extra charge for bikes). EasyCard has been accepted on this route in 2026, but carry some cash
- Boats leave about every 15-30 minutes, and the crossing takes 10-30 minutes depending on the tide
- In Bali, try the snacks on the short pier street, or walk or cycle the Left Bank riverside path toward the Shihsanhang Museum. Bike rental shops are near the pier
- Check the last boat before you head off. Sailings stop in strong wind and typhoons
Don't miss: The river view back toward Tamsui during the crossing, then a snack on the Bali pier street.
Best time to go alone: A weekday afternoon, so you can return around sunset. Weekend afternoons can mean waiting at the piers.
