A seafood market in the former Taipei fish market building, with a long stand-up sushi bar, a raw seafood bar, cooked dishes and a grocery counter selling takeaway sushi and rice bowls. The stand-up counters serve one set per person, so it is an easy place to eat good seafood alone. It is cash only and pricier than most places in this guide.

How to order, step by step
- Enter on the north side of the building and head for the stand-up sushi bar
- If it is busy, take a queue number and wait to be called. Only the hot pot section takes reservations
- Order one sushi set at the counter. The selection changes with the day's catch, so ask what is in it if the menu is unclear
- Eat standing at the counter. Bring enough cash, because cards are not accepted anywhere in the market
- For a cheaper meal, buy takeaway nigiri or a rice bowl at the grocery counter and eat it in Rongxing Park nearby
What to order solo: A sushi set from the stand-up bar, about NT$580-1,980 in 2026, or a nigiri-only set of 9-10 pieces from about NT$480. Takeaway nigiri and rice bowls from the grocery cost about NT$270-790. Check the posted price.
Best time to go alone: A weekday afternoon between lunch and dinner. Weekends and holidays are the busiest.
