A small soup dumpling shop on a side street of Ximending, making xiaolongbao since 2000 and popular enough to open a branch in Tokyo in 2026. The menu is short: baskets of seven large soup dumplings steamed to order, a couple of soups and soy milk. - Find No. 54-4 Hankou Street Section 2, on a quiet stretch near Kunming Street
- Join the line. At lunchtime the wait can be 20 minutes or more
- Order from the multilingual menu: one basket of soup dumplings, or a set with soup
- Pay in cash
- Wait a few minutes while your basket is steamed. Let the dumplings cool a little before biting, as the soup inside is hot
What to order solo: One basket of seven dumplings (about NT$135 in 2026) is a filling snack for one. A set with hot and sour soup or corn soup came to about NT$170-195 in 2026. Check the posted price.
Best time to go alone: Right at 10:00 or after 13:30 on a weekday. Lunchtime queues can pass an hour, and the day's dumplings can sell out early.
