How to visit, step by step

  1. Walk from Xinbeitou Station along Guangming Road on the Beitou Park side to No. 244, about 8-10 minutes
  2. Arrive during one of the three daily sessions (06:30-11:00, 12:00-17:00, 18:00-21:00). Entry stops an hour before each session ends, and everyone leaves when it finishes. Closed on Wednesdays
  3. Pay NT$150 in cash at the counter. There are no bookings: if the bath is full, wait in line and go in as others come out
  4. Bring your own towel and toiletries, or buy a towel (NT$50) and a small bottle of shampoo and body wash (NT$15) at the counter
  5. Men's and women's baths are separate and nude, so no swimsuits. Put your shoes in the shoe locker and your things in a locker, then wash at the showers before you get in
  6. The water is hot and very acidic (one pool about 42-43°C, the other 45-46°C). Soak in short rounds, keep it away from your eyes, and don't bathe after drinking alcohol
  7. Children under 6 can't enter. The private rooms here need at least two adults, so on your own you use the public bath
Don't miss: The old stone pools of green-sulfur water, one of the most traditional soaks in Beitou.
Best time to go alone: Near the start of the morning or afternoon session on a weekday. It can get crowded at times, especially weekends.
