How to visit, step by step

  1. From Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall station (R08/G10) Exit 1 or 2, walk along Nanhai Road and cross Chongqing South Road
  2. Entry is free and individual visitors don't need to book
  3. Put large bags and backpacks in a locker or at the service desk. Umbrellas can't go inside, so fold a small one into your bag. Dress neatly
  4. Start with the permanent exhibition in the second-floor north wing, then see any special exhibition in the south wing or on the third floor
  5. No food, drinks or chewing gum. Personal photos are allowed where each room permits, but no flash or tripods
  6. English guided tours are only for groups that book ahead, so plan to read on your own
  7. This is not the Taipei 228 Memorial Museum inside 228 Peace Memorial Park, which is a separate museum
Don't miss: The second-floor permanent exhibition on the 228 Incident.
Best time to go alone: A weekday afternoon, when you can read without hurrying.
