Ningxia Night Market

A short, food-focused night market on a single street west of Zhongshan, with stalls down the middle and long-running snack shops on both sides. Almost everything comes in single portions and several of the best-known stalls have their own tables, so one person can sit down for a proper bowl.

How to order, step by step
- Walk in from either end - the whole market is one street, so you can see everything in one loop
- Pick a stall and order one item - single portions are normal
- At busy stalls there can be separate lines for eating in and taking away, so check which one you are in
- Sit at the stall's own tables if it has them, or take the food with you
- Pay in cash and carry small notes - only some stalls take mobile pay
What to order solo: Chicken rice with a soup at Fang Jia (方家雞肉飯, stall 60, from about 18:00), pork liver soup at Zhugan Rongzai (豬肝榮仔, stalls 8 and 10, from 18:30), or an oyster omelette at Yuan Huan Pien (圓環邊蚵仔煎, No. 46), a sit-down shop that also opens at lunch. All three are closed on Mondays.
Best time to go alone: Around 17:30-19:00 on a weekday, before the 19:00-22:00 peak. Weekends are packed, and on Mondays many famous stalls are closed.
