Shi Yuan Taiwanese Fried Chicken (Main Shop)

師園鹽酥雞(本店) · show this name to taxi drivers

Shida's best-known Taiwanese fried chicken shop, frying chicken, tofu, vegetables and more to order with garlic, basil and pepper. Unlike most night market fried-food stalls it has tables inside, and it also serves Japanese-style curry rice, so one person can sit down for a proper meal.

How to order, step by step

  1. Take a paper order sheet and ask for the English version
  2. Tick the items you want - each one is a full portion, so one or two items is plenty for one person
  3. Tick the box for eating in (內用) if you want a table - the seats are inside the shop
  4. Choose garlic, basil and chili powder, or ask for no chili
  5. Hand the sheet to staff and wait for your order
What to order solo: The house salt-and-pepper fried chicken plus one vegetable item, or a plate of Japanese curry rice if you want a full meal.
Best time to go alone: Late afternoon or early evening on a weekday. Lines get long later in the evening and on weekends.
