How to visit, step by step

  1. Walk to No. 84 Danan Road, in the heart of Shilin Night Market
  2. Walk in freely. No ticket or booking is needed, and incense and donations are optional
  3. Keep your voice down and don't stand right in front of people praying
  4. Look for the dragon-carved stone columns at the main hall door and the stone qilin carved in 1828
  5. Finish your night-market snacks before you go in
  6. The 2026 Shilin Folk Culture Festival, which the temple co-hosts, runs 27 November to 13 December, so expect crowds and events then
Don't miss: The carved dragon columns and the stone qilin, seen slowly between night-market stops.
Best time to go alone: Early evening before the night market fills up, or a weekday morning when it is calm.
