The basement food hall under Shilin Market, reopened in April 2025 after a full renovation. Stalls around the walls sell oyster omelettes, stinky tofu, xiaolongbao, teppanyaki sets and more, and everyone eats at shared tables in the middle, with air conditioning and clean toilets. It is the easiest place in Shilin Night Market to sit down alone with a proper meal.

How to order, step by step
- Find the Shilin Market building on Jihe Road and take the escalator down from the covered area
- Walk one loop first - stalls line the walls and some staff will call out to you
- Order and pay at one stall at a time. Some stalls give you a buzzer that goes off when your food is ready
- Sit at any free seat at the shared tables in the middle
- Take your tray and dishes to a return counter when you finish
What to order solo: A teppanyaki set with meat, vegetables and rice is the easiest full meal for one. Or build a meal from small plates at different stalls, such as an oyster omelette and a basket of xiaolongbao. Check each stall's price board before you order.
Best time to go alone: Weekday evenings before 18:30, or a weekend lunch - it opens at 12:00 from Friday to Sunday.
