How to order, step by step

  1. Find No. 29 Chang'an West Road, between Zhongshan and Taipei Main stations. Other shops in Taipei use the same name, so check the address
  2. At busy times there are separate lines for takeaway and eating in. Join the eat-in line
  3. Take any free seat. Sharing a table is normal
  4. Tick the Chinese paper menu and hand it in, or ask for the English picture menu and tell staff what you want
  5. Pay in cash at the counter. Ask whether to pay before you eat or on your way out
What to order solo: A sesame flatbread (燒餅) or a fried dough stick (油條), each about NT$25 on a 2026 visit, with a bowl of savory soy milk (鹹豆漿, about NT$40). Add a basket of xiaolongbao if you are hungry. Check the posted price.
Best time to go alone: After 08:00 on a weekday. 06:00-08:00 is the busiest time, with long lines. On Sundays it closes at 13:00.
