Taipei Water Park (Museum of Drinking Water)

臺北自來水園區(自來水博物館) · show this name to taxi drivers

Taipei's first waterworks: a 1908 pumping station with a grand Baroque-style front, now a small museum in a riverside park next to Treasure Hill. See the old pumping machinery, walk the garden paths, and on Thursday or Saturday afternoons join a tour of the old reservoir inside the hill. The summer water play area is closed outside summer, so this is a quiet museum stop the rest of the year.

How to visit, step by step

  1. From Gongguan MRT Exit 4, walk about 5 minutes to the corner of Siyuan Street and Tingzhou Road
  2. Buy a ticket at the entrance - NT$50 from September to June - and keep the stub
  3. Visit the 1908 pumping station museum, then walk the park's garden paths
  4. Short museum tours (about 30 minutes) start in front of the museum at 10:00 and 14:00, Tuesday to Sunday. They are not listed as English tours, so expect Mandarin
  5. The Guanyinshan Reservoir can only be seen on a guided tour, Thursdays and Saturdays at 14:30. Collect a number ticket in person at the ticket window early that day - there are only 30 places, and tours are canceled during thunderstorms
  6. The water play area and water garden are summer-only and closed for the season on 14 September 2026
  7. Last entry is 16:00 outside July and August
Don't miss: The restored pumping station and its old machinery, plus the underground reservoir tour if you can time a Thursday or Saturday afternoon.
Best time to go alone: A weekday morning, then walk next door to Treasure Hill when it opens at 11:00.
