A hillside settlement above the Xindian River, now an artist village where studios and small galleries sit among homes where people still live. Wander the stairways and alleys at your own pace, no booking needed. It sits right next to the Museum of Drinking Water and a short walk from Gongguan Night Market.

How to visit, step by step
- From Gongguan MRT Exit 1, turn right into Lane 90 of Roosevelt Road, left onto Tingzhou Road, then up Lane 230 - about 5-7 minutes
- Walk the outdoor lanes and stairways, open 11:00-22:00, Tuesday to Sunday. Indoor exhibition spaces close at 18:00
- Some studios and small creative groups keep their own hours, so not every door will be open
- People live here, so keep your voice down and don't step into homes or private doorways
- Check the village's events page for current shows. The winter open studios run until 29 November 2026
- Wear shoes with grip: there are many steep, uneven steps, and they get slippery in rain
Don't miss: The maze of stairways and rooftops above the river, plus whichever studios and small exhibitions are open that day.
Best time to go alone: A weekday afternoon from about 14:00, so you can see the indoor spaces before 18:00 and stay outside as it gets dark.
