A-Mei Teahouse
阿妹茶樓 · show this name to taxi drivers
A tall old wooden teahouse on the Shuqi Road steps, with balcony and upper-floor seats looking over Jiufen's rooftops toward the sea. The house tea set is priced per person, so ordering one set on your own is completely normal, and staff brew the first pot for you.

How to order, step by step
- Walk along Jishan Street to the Shuqi Road steps. A-Mei is the multi-story wooden teahouse at No. 20 Shixia Lane, just off the steps
- There are no bookings. Walk in and wait for a table, and come near the 09:00 opening for the shortest wait. You can't always choose a balcony seat
- Order the house tea set for one, about NT$350 per person (2026). It comes with a small bag of tea leaves and tea snacks, and the snack portion matches the number of people
- Staff brew and explain the first pot, then you carry on brewing yourself. The bag of leaves is enough for a few pots
- If you pick a tea from the full tea list instead, the leaves are priced separately and a water fee is charged per person. Ask whether a service charge is added and check the posted price
- Have cash ready in case cards aren't accepted
What to order solo: The house tea set with oolong or another tea from the set list, plus the snacks that come with it. Ask for an upper-floor or balcony seat if one is free.
Best time to go alone: Right at opening on a weekday morning. Evenings, when the lanterns are lit, are the busiest time and you may wait for a table.
