Jioufen Teahouse
九份茶坊 · show this name to taxi drivers
A teahouse in a registered historic house on Jishan Street, the former home of a local mining figure that later served as a clinic, with a tea shop and a pottery kiln downstairs. It's quieter than the bigger teahouses nearby. There's no set for one: you buy a pack of tea leaves and pay a water fee, so it costs more alone, but you take the leftover leaves home.

How to order, step by step
- Walk up Jishan Street to No. 142, just past the Shuqi Road junction
- Choose a pack of tea leaves from the tea list. Packs started at about NT$800 in 2026
- On top of the leaves there is a water fee for each person, so one person pays about NT$900 in total. Check the posted price
- Staff set you up with the brewing equipment. One pack makes several pots, and you take the leftover leaves home
- If you only want a taste, ask at the tea shop counter downstairs whether you can try a tea before buying
- Ask before you order if you want to pay by card
What to order solo: A pack of a Taiwanese oolong such as Alishan Jin Xuan, brewed slowly at a window table, with the rest of the leaves to take home.
Best time to go alone: Weekday afternoon. It rarely fills up, so it's a good fallback when other teahouses have a line.

Getting there: From Taipei: bus 1062 from Zhongxiao Fuxing Station (Exit 2) or bus 965 from Beimen or Ximen to the Jiufen Old Street stop, about 1-1.5 hours, then walk up Jishan Street past the Shuqi Road junction. Check the timetable before you go back.
