How to visit, step by step
- From Longshan Temple station (BL10), walk about 3-5 minutes across Bangka Park to the temple gate on Guangzhou Street
- Entry is free and no ticket or booking is needed. Go in through the right-hand (Dragon) gate, as the temple asks
- Visitors do not burn incense here. Since 2020 people pray with palms pressed together and a small bow, so you don't need to buy anything
- Keep your voice low, don't stand right in front of people praying and skip the flash near the altars
- Walk from the front hall to the main hall of Guanyin, then around to the rear halls, and leave by the left-hand (Tiger) gate
- To try a fortune, take a pair of moon blocks from beside the fortune-stick holders in the front hall. The temple's fortune-poem explanation desk is open 10:00-19:00
Don't miss: The carved front hall and the main hall of Guanyin. If you can, stay a few minutes for the chanting, held around 06:00 and 08:00 and again in the late afternoon.
Best time to go alone: Early morning for the chanting, or a weekday mid-afternoon. Late mornings, early evenings and festival days are the busiest.
