Fuzhou Shizu Pepper Bun (Raohe Night Market)
福州世祖胡椒餅(饒河夜市) · show this name to taxi drivers
The best-known stall at Raohe: pork and spring onion buns baked on the inside walls of charcoal ovens, sold one at a time just inside the east gate by Ciyou Temple. The line is long but moves fast, and one bun is a filling snack for one person. It was on the MICHELIN Bib Gourmand list in 2018 and 2019.

How to order, step by step
- Find the stall in the middle of the street just past the east gate by Ciyou Temple
- Join the roped-off line - it moves quickly
- Hold up fingers for how many buns you want - it is the only thing they sell
- Pay in cash
- There are no seats, so step aside to eat, and wait a moment before biting - the filling is very hot and juicy
What to order solo: One pepper bun, about NT$65 in 2026. Take small bites at first - the juice inside is scalding.
Best time to go alone: Soon after it opens at 15:30, or before 18:00. The line is longest on weekend and holiday evenings.
