How to visit, step by step

  1. Leave Songshan MRT by Exit 5. The temple is at the east end of Raohe Night Market
  2. Entry is free and you can look around on your own. Incense and offerings are optional
  3. Follow the temple's own route: enter by the right-hand door, visit the main Mazu hall, then climb the rear building from the 2nd to the 6th floor, and leave by the left-hand door
  4. Each upper floor is a separate shrine. Keep your voice down and step aside for people praying
  5. Walk straight out into the night market afterwards, or go behind the temple to Rainbow Bridge
Don't miss: The main Mazu hall, then the climb up the six-story rear building, with a different shrine on each floor.
Best time to go alone: Late afternoon before the night market fills up, or after dinner when the temple is lit. Mazu's birthday season in spring draws large crowds.
