Long Ji Stir-fry (Shuiyuan Market)

A busy wok stall inside Shuiyuan Market, next to Gongguan MRT, cooking about 30 kinds of fried rice, rice with gravy and stir-fried rice noodles to order. Every dish is a single plate and the stall has its own seats, so it makes a good sit-down lunch or early dinner for one. There are only two woks, though, so the wait can be long.

How to order, step by step
- Find stall 32 on the ground floor of Shuiyuan Market
- Order at the stall - the menu is in Chinese, so point at the dish or show its name, and you may be asked to write your order on a slip
- Wait for a seat at the stall or come back later - dishes are cooked to order and the wait can pass 30 minutes at lunchtime
- Pay in cash
What to order solo: The house three-treasure egg fried rice (三鮮蛋炒飯), about NT$120. Most dishes cost NT$135 or less.
Best time to go alone: Soon after 12:00 or 17:00 on a weekday, or after 13:30. Closed on Sundays and Mondays, plus a few extra days each month.
