A free photography museum in a 1937 Japanese-era shipping company office, right across the road from Taipei Main Station. How to visit, step by step

  1. Cross Zhongxiao West Road from Taipei Main Station to the corner of Huaining Street. The step-free ramp entrance is on the Huaining Street driveway
  2. Walk in. Entry is free and individual visitors don't need to book
  3. Ask at the 1st-floor service desk to leave bags in the free storage. Food, drinks, long umbrellas, tripods and selfie sticks can't go into the galleries
  4. Take the stairs or the elevator up to the exhibitions. Photo rules depend on each exhibition, so follow the signs
  5. Exhibitions change through the year, so check the center's website to see what's on
Don't miss: Whatever photography exhibition is on upstairs, the display on the building's own history, and the restored central staircase.
Best time to go alone: A weekday afternoon from Tuesday to Friday, between trains.
