How to visit, step by step
- From Beimen Station (G13) Exit 2, walk to No. 2, Yanping North Road Section 1. This is the National Taiwan Museum's Railway Department Park, not the separate National Railway Museum
- Buy a NT$100 ticket at the entrance before 16:30. Card, EasyCard and LINE Pay are accepted, and individual visitors don't need to book
- If you also plan to see the museum's main building, ask about the NT$130 four-venue ticket. It covers one visit to each of the four venues within a month
- Leave food, drinks and umbrellas outside the galleries. No flash, tripods or selfie sticks
- Walk the main building at your own pace. The model railway runs short shows at set times, so check the next show when you arrive
- Mandarin guided tours start at 10:30 and 14:30. If you don't speak Mandarin, plan to explore on your own
Don't miss: The large model railway of old Taipei and its station area, plus the old tickets, station fittings and train seats you can sit in.
Best time to go alone: A weekday morning from Tuesday to Friday. Arrive by 15:00 so you aren't rushed before closing.
