TAIPEI 101 Observatory

The indoor observatory near the top of Taipei 101, with a 360-degree view over the city and the giant wind damper that steadies the tower. You buy one ticket and stay as long as you like, which makes it one of Taipei's easiest sights to do alone.

How to visit, step by step
- Go to the observatory ticket counter on the 1st floor of the Taipei 101 Office Tower. Older guides and reviews say the 5th floor of the mall, but the official site now sends visitors to the Office Tower 1F
- Buy a regular adult ticket (NT$600) at the counter or online on the official site. Discount tickets need a Taiwanese ID, so most foreign visitors pay the full price
- A high-speed lift takes you up to the 89th-floor indoor observatory. Take your time going around all four sides
- Walk down to the 88th floor to see the giant wind damper ball
- The 91st-floor outdoor deck opens only now and then, depending on the weather, and the 101st floor costs NT$380 extra
- Check the weather before you buy. On cloudy or rainy days you may see very little
Don't miss: The 360-degree view from the 89th floor, then the huge gold-colored wind damper on the 88th floor.
Best time to go alone: Right at the 10:00 opening on a weekday for the shortest lines, or about an hour before sunset for both day and night views. Sunset and weekends are the busiest times.

MRT: Taipei 101/World Trade Center (R03). Follow the signs to the Office Tower 1F observatory ticket counter, about 5 min.
