Yuan Fang Gua Bao
源芳刈包 · show this name to taxi drivers
A gua bao shop of more than 60 years inside the covered Huaxi Street Night Market, on the 2026 MICHELIN Bib Gourmand list for Taipei. The menu is short: a soft steamed bun filled with braised pork belly, pickled mustard greens, crushed peanuts and cilantro, plus a few pork soups. One bun is a snack, a bun and a soup make a light lunch, and there are a few tables if you want to sit down.

How to order, step by step
- Find stall 161 at No. 17-2 Huaxi Street, inside the covered night-market arcade a short walk from Longshan Temple
- Join the line. Eat-in and takeaway customers usually wait in the same queue
- Order one gua bao and, if you like, a bowl of four-herb soup. Say if you want no cilantro
- Pay when you order. Bring cash, as other payment may not be available
- Sit at one of the small tables or take it away
What to order solo: One gua bao (about NT$70 in October 2026) is a snack. Add a bowl of four-herb soup, which is made with pork intestine, for a light meal. Check the posted price.
Best time to go alone: Weekday afternoons, after the lunch rush. On weekend lunchtimes expect a wait of 20 minutes or more. Closed on Mondays.
