Shintomicho Cultural Market

A horseshoe-shaped public market hall from 1935, restored and now run by an arts foundation as a small cultural space. It is not a working food market. Inside are free exhibitions around a central courtyard, plus a bar and a cafe. The local Dongsanshui Street market is right next door.

How to visit, step by step
- From Longshan Temple station (BL10) Exit 3, turn left and walk in via Lane 81, Section 3, Heping West Road
- Walk in freely. The current exhibition is free and no booking is needed
- Scan the QR codes in the building for the audio guide in Mandarin, Taiwanese or English
- Eating and drinking are only allowed in the bar and cafe areas, not in the public spaces
- Walk around the curved hall and the central courtyard, then step out to the local Dongsanshui Street market beside it
- As of October 2026, the 10th-anniversary exhibition runs until 15 November 2026. Check the website for the next show
Don't miss: The curved 1935 market hall seen from the central courtyard, plus whatever exhibition is on.
Best time to go alone: A weekday afternoon. Pair it with Lungshan Temple and Bopiliao, all a few minutes apart.
